What You Need:

  • Bag of Coleslaw Mix
  • Mayo – I love Tessemaes or Primal Kitchen to keep it Whole30 compliant
  • Cilantro
  • Limes
  • Red Onion
  • Hot Sauce – Frank’s Red Hot is a Whole30 compliant hot sauce
  • Jalapeno
  • Honey – optional (not Whole30 compliant)
  • Salt & Pepper
Bowl of coleslaw ingredients - cilantro, coleslaw mix, mayo, limes, red onion and jalapeños

Let’s Make Southwestern Coleslaw:

  1. In a large bowl add the mayo, hot sauce, lime juice and salt and pepper (and honey if using)
  2. Mix together with a whisk. Then add in the remaining ingredients and toss together with the dressing
  3. Let sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes and then taste for salt and pepper before serving

Recipe Notes:

  • When I am not doing a round of Whole30, I like to add in honey to add a little sweetness to the dressing. You can also use your favorite sugar free sweetener to keep this coleslaw low carb
    • The coleslaw is absolutely delicious both ways!
  • Make sure you leave time for this dish to chill in the fridge, this helps the flavors develop and coleslaw is best then served cold

So good and such a nice flavor change from regular slaw! Made this for a whole30 dinner so we skipped the honey, and used onion powder instead of red onion. Hubby asked for seconds! ❤
