Friday Favorites: Life Update and Mother’s Day Ideas
Hi Loves,
Happy Friday – I hope you have had a great week! I’m kicking off today’s post with a bit of a life update. I made a decision for my health, and although it’s very personal, I want to share it with you guys.

weight Loss Surgery – gastric sleeve
After 20+ years of dieting and struggles, I have decided to get weight loss surgery. I went in yesterday (Thursday, April 28) for my surgery. I had a gastric sleeve procedure. I will be sharing a lot more in the upcoming weeks, but I wanted to let you all know because I will be recovering for a while. I have put so much prayer and thought into this decision and believe it is the right choice for me. I have always been open and honest with you all about my weight loss and health journey. I will continue to be so throughout this process. Thank you in advance for be respectful of my decision. I look forward to bringing you along as I walk through this journey.
Here’s what I’ve been loving this week, and what happily distracted me from fasting and surgery.
my mom is in town
My mom came into town a few days before my surgery to help out with the kids. It’s so great to see her, and I’m thankful for the support. She’s a road trip queen, and visits us every few months from Arizona. It’s hard not living in the same state as family anymore, so I’m extra thankful she takes the time to see us often. She’s also very spontaneous and gets me in to trouble, but I think he will be laying low this week as I recover.
batter up

Since moving to Texas, Abby has started to play softball. This is her first season, and it’s going great so far. At first, she was pretty nervous to try something new and make friends, but each week that has gotten better and better and I’m a proud mama. Growing up, I played competitive softball for many years. I was a pitcher, and I’m not gonna lie – I was good. I stopped when my family moved to Colorado because it was a hard transition for me. It’s been special to see Abby doing something I am passionate about. We are just taking it one season at a time, but I have loved being in the dugout, practicing catching with her, and watching her grow with a team.
Mother’s Day shopping
Mother’s Day is just over a week away! If you need gift inspiration for a mama in your life, or want to treat yourself, I put together a little gift guide. A special gift does not have to be expensive, and I think you will love these affordable options. You know I love a good cast iron, and I thought the changeable knobs were such a fun touch. You certainly can’t go wrong with a mug, blanket, or slippers – mamas love to be cozy. To all the mamas out there, I hope you have a wonderful day!

weeknight recipes
I’m not going to be cooking much the first few weeks after surgery, so I’ve been planning out easy weeknight recipes that Ryan and my Mom can rely on. I also picked up pre-made meals from Costco and plenty of easy snacks for the kids. Here are my go-to recipes busy families who need dinner in a pinch: Taco Salad, Chicken Fajitas, and Instant Pot Butter Chicken.

All my love,
Sara
