Hi Loves! My name is Sara and I am the woman behind The Bettered Blondie. I started this blog after I had so many requests to share my recipes. I had been sharing my weight loss journey on Instagram and so many people wanted to know what I was eating and what I was doing for my weight loss. It has grown so much since then and is now my full time job! I now get the chance to do something that I love while helping others.
Here are a few pictures of my family (getting updated ones of the kids soon) but I am happily married to my best friend. We met in high school and have been married for 11 years. My sweet and sassy daughter Abigail is now 8 years old (she’s growing so fast!). And my miracle rainbow baby boy Samuel is now 3 years old. They are my life and my joy.
As for my weight loss journey, it has been a very up and down story, and I know many of you can relate to that. I was overweight as a little girl and it has been a struggle ever since then. I lost 60 pounds in 2017, but I had gained it back after some difficult struggles with my health. I am now sharing my journey to lose 100 pounds in my Weight Loss Wednesday posts.
I am very open with my struggles with binge eating and food addiction, I believe it is important to talk about these issues. It is not easy but if we can encourage and support each other, we are more likely to overcome these strongholds. Most of my recipes are Paleo and Whole30, because doing multiple rounds of Whole30 helped me find a love for real food and helped us discover that gluten/dairy is a big problem for myself and my daughter.
I know how hard it can be to heal a broken relationship with food. Many of us have believed the wrong things for so long and it is hard to change those beliefs and re-learn a whole new way of relating to food. I am very much a work in progress, but I am here to let you know that you are not alone and that healthy food can be delicious too! We are in this together.
